Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Paul Young developed a love and skill for the culinary arts; he can “recreate almost any dish I taste in a restaurant.” It is his artistry in graphic design that has garnered notoriety, however. A graphic designer for over 25 years and winner of numerous Ad Club of Champaign CHAAMP Awards, Paul held creative positions at ad agencies, design studios, publishing firms, and in-house art departments in New York City and Milwaukee before joining Parkland in 1999. He and wife Bonnie co-own a successful design studio, Electric Pictures, in Champaign.
Paul’s philosophy is “to create a workshop environment in the classroom that simulates the real world as closely as possible. I encourage students to bounce ideas off each other and to observe how I work with other students.” If he’s not teaching or designing, you might catch him strolling the Farmer’s Market in Urbana for the freshest ingredients.
