“Does parenting count as ‘military service’?” Sandy Kumler once jokingly asked on a staff survey. After 25 years of marriage and “keeping the universe spinning for my family,” the Mansfield native has earned the right to ask! Since coming to Parkland in 1999, Sandy has performed office clerical work in various departments. Even in her role as an academic scheduler; “working with all the different departments on campus” is what she enjoys most.
The Cubs fan (“or my dad would disown me”) says she once gave a pedicure and a facial to… a chicken! Ohhhh-kay. If you have any books by Beverly Lewis or Nicholas Sparks you no longer want, just send them Sandy’s way. Besides reading and listening to country, Christian, or instrumental music, Sandy enjoys fishing. You might also find her searching for craft supplies at Hobby Lobby or dining at Panera.
