Trustee named chair of national board

Bennett elected to serve in top ACCT post

SAN FRANCISCO--Parkland College Trustee Thomas M. Bennett was elected chair of the Association of Community College Trustees on Friday, October 9 at the 40th Annual ACCT Leadership Congress.

The Association of Community College Trustees is a national non-profit educational organization of governing boards, representing 6,500+ elected and appointed trustees who govern over 1,200 community, technical, and junior colleges in the United States. The ACCT has 26 representatives with five officers - Secretary/Treasurer, Vice-Chair, Chair-Elect, Chair, and Past Chair.

Mr. Bennett, a native of Gibson City, has served on the Parkland College Board of Trustees since 1995, currently serving as its vice chair. He actively serves the district's communities on local, state and national levels. A member of the Illinois Community College Trustee Association (ICCTA), Mr. Bennett has served on several committees and offices in that organization, including ICCTA president (2005-2006).
