Professor to be Honored in 4th Annual Immigrant Welcome Awards

Charles Larenas to receive Distinguished Leadership Service Award during ceremony Friday

Parkland College Education Professor Charles Larenas will be among the honorees at C-U's 4th Annual Immigrant Welcome Awards this Friday.
 
Larenas will receive the Distinguished Leadership Service Award during the Immigrant Welcome Award Ceremony and Celebration, Saturday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Muslim American Society Center, 2011 Brownfield Road, Urbana. This event is free and open to the public and includes free activities for children and refreshments.
 
Co-sponsors of the event are the Cities of Champaign and Urbana, the CU Immigration Forum, and the Urbana Free Library. The 2017 Immigrant Welcome Award recipients will be honored for their dedicated work enriching the lives of those not only living in Champaign-Urbana, but around the world. Other award recipients include:

Community Impact Award
– Education Justice Project
– Immigration Project

Humanitarian Relief Award
– Samuel Smith

Student Leadership Award
