Students to See Long-Awaited MAP Grants

Financial Aid office to apply 2016-2017 grant to student accounts starting Aug. 3

Wednesday, July 26, 2017
Parkland College students soon will receive needed financial aid that has been missing for two years due to the lack of a state budget.

Starting Aug. 3, the college’s Office of Financial Aid and Veteran Services will begin applying the Monetary Award Program (MAP) Grant for fall 2016 and spring 2017 to student accounts.

The State of Illinois funded MAP for the 2016-2017 academic year after passing a budget in early July. The program provides grants to low-income college students.

Parkland’s financial aid team will deliver MAP refunds to eligible students via mail or direct deposit, said Enrollment Services Director Tim Wendt.

“We’re encouraging students to make the most of this financial aid opportunity and press toward their Parkland degrees or certificates using the grants they receive this fall,” Wendt said. “It’s not too late to register for class.”

Parkland College’s Fall 2017 semester begins August 21.
