Women's Soccer eliminated in final seconds

The Parkland College Women's Soccer team battled the rain and the SWIC Blue Storm for nearly 90 minutes Thursday afternoon before a controversial call with just 16 seconds left helped SWIC eliminate the Cobras 2-1 in Region 24 action.

SWIC grabbed an early 1-0 lead just 30 seconds into the contest as Cassie Pruitt beat two defenders and found an open Hilary Bell who put the ball into the open net. Neither team scored for the remainder of the half and the Cobras were able to tie the match on a Jenny Musick goal with just 20 minutes remaining. The two teams battled into the final minute before the Cobras were called for a controversial hand ball with just 16 seconds remaining. Pruitt's penalty kick sailed into the right hand corner of the goal and the Cobras saw their season come to a disappointing end. SWIC (15-5-1) moves on to play top seeded Lewis and Clark (19-1) for the Region 24 Championship to be played at 12:00 on Sunday in Godfrey.

Musick Earns 1st Team All-Region and All-Conference Honors

Freshman Forward Jenny Musick (Mt. Zion HS) has been selected as a First Team All-Region 24 and All Mid-West Athletic Conference player in voting announced today. Musick lead the (10-5-1) Cobras, who face SWIC in Region 24 Semi-final action today, in scoring with 17 goals and 3 assists on the season.

Musick was the only Cobra to earn First Team All-Region Honors while Brittani Gentry (Danviille), Camille Repass (Geneseo-Darnall), and Alexia Sokol (Bloomington Central Catholic) all were Honorable Mention selections.

In all M-WAC voting, Gentry who was 2nd for the Cobras in scoring with 12 goals and 8 assists, was also named to the First Team while Sokol was joined on the Second team by Tara Rossdeutcher (Dekalb) and Sophia Ryan (Urbana).
 
 
Late second half push leads Women's Soccer to win

The Parkland Women's soccer team broke a 1-all tie with two goals in the final ten minutes as the Cobras knocked off Kaskaskia 3-1 in the Region 24 Tournament Quarterfinal. The win moves PC to (10-5-1) on the season and into the semi-finals where they will play Southwestern Illinois College (14-5-2) at 2:00 on Thursday. The two teams played back on September 27th in Champaign and battled to a 0-0 tie. Kaskaskia's season ends with a final record of 10-7.

PC took a 1-0 lead to the break scoring the lone goal of the first half as Brittany Moore followed up a missed shot and connected with a shot off the top bar that bounced into the goal. KC tied the game early in the 2nd half with a long shot that floated into the top left corner of the net. The score remained tied until Tara Rossdeutcher's header,off a perfect pass from Camille Repass off a corner kick, just got by the KC goalie with 9:42 remaining. Jenny Musick scored the final goal of the contest on a scramble in front of the goal with just over a minute remaining. Parkland out shot KC 8-2 for the match as the Cobras avenged an earlier 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Blue Angels.



Women's Soccer falls at Waubonsee



Parkland's Women Soccer team traveled north to Waubonsee CC but fell to the host Warriors 3-1. Waubonsee raced out to a 2-0 lead before Jenny Musick connected on a pass from Brittany Gentry for the Cobras lone goal. The loss drops PC to (8-4-1) while the Warriors improve to (10-4-2). PC will return to action on Tuesday with a 4:00 home match with Joliet.



Women's Soccer wins

The Parkland Women's Soccer team played one of their best games of the season as they rallied to knock off M-WAC rival Illinois Central 2-1 in East Peoria on Wednesday night. The Cobras trailed 1-0 at halftime, but a heavily defended Jenny Musick tied the game with a turnaround shot in the box, and off an immediate free kick, Camille Repass scored the go ahead goal just a short time later. ICC had three chances to tie it over the final 11 minutes, including one from long-distance as time expired, but the Cougars could not connect.

The win moves Parkland to 8-3-1 on the year while ICC falls to 10-5.The victory wraps up the #3 seed for the Cobras in the Region 24 Tournament which begins on October 18th. PC will travel out of conference this Saturday for a 2:30 game at Waubonsee CC in Sugar Grove.



Women's Soccer battles to 0-0 tie

Parkland and SWIC battled 90 minutes of regulation and two 10 minute overtimes but had to settle for a 0-0 tie on Sunday afternoon. The tie leaves the Cobras, who have no matches this week, at 7-2-1 while SWIC is now 8-4-1.


Women's Soccer wins 5th straight with road win over Lincoln

The Parkland Women's Soccer team took care of business on Wednesday afternoon as they cruised past Lincoln College 5-1 in M-WAC action. The victory, the Cobras fifth straight, moved Parkland to (7-1 3-1) while the Lynx fall to (2-8 0-4).

Seven different players either scored or had an assist as the Cobras used a balanced attack to pick up the win. Tara Rossdeutcher, Brittany Gentry, Tiffany Blanchette, and Jenny Musick all scored for PC while Camille Repass, Lexi Sokol, and Sophie Ryan each added an assist. Parkland also scored an "own goal" late in the first half.

Parkland will be right back in action on Thursday when they host Kaskaskia beginning at 4:00



Women's Soccer picks up big road victory

The Parkland Women's Soccer team broke out of a 1-1 halftime tie by scoring early in the 2nd half on a Melissa Gonzalez goal and held on to beat Heartland 3-2 in a Midwest Athletic Conference contest. The Cobras scored first as Gonzalez connected on a shot on an assist from Brittany Gentry to give PC a 1-0 lead. The Hawks tied it later in the half before Gonzalez put the Cobras ahead to stay. Gentry made it 3-1 Cobras on an assist from Camille Repass, her second assist of the game. Heartland's Lauren Johnson scored an unassisted goal with just five minutes remaining to cut the lead to one but PC was able to hang on for the win.

The victory moves Parkland to (6-1 2-1) while Heartland falls to (3-4 1-1). After a day off, Parkland will travel to Lincoln (2-7 0-3) on Wednesday before hosting Kaskaskia (6-3) on Thursday at 4:00.



Women's Soccer rolls South Suburban
 

The Parkland Women's Soccer team was in control from beginning to end Saturday as they rolled to an easy 13-0 win over visiting So. Suburban. Freshman Jenny Musick led the attack with a record breaking 5 goals, including four of the Cobras first five made shots.

Brittany Gentry added two goals and assisted on three goals while Brittany Moore and Melissa Gonzalez also scored twice. Tara Rossdeutcher added a goal and two assists as the Cobra improved to (5-1) with their third consecutive shutout win. So. Suburban fall to (1-8) with the loss.

Things will get a little tougher for the Cobras this week as they will play four Region 24 games in a seven day period. The Cobras will travel to Heartland on Monday and Lincoln College on Wednesday before hosting Kaskaskia on Thursday and Southwestern Illinois College on Sunday afternoon.



Womens Soccer Shuts Out Springfield!

Brittany Gentry and Jenny Musick each scored two goals and handed out one assist to help lead the Women's Soccer team to a 7-0 win over Springfield College on Tuesday afternoon. Parkland scored five times in the opening half as they cruised to the victory. Lexy Sokol, Melissa Gonzalez, and Amanda Hatcher also all had goals for the Cobras. Sandy Stundahl was solid in goal as she had 5 saves in recording her third shutout of the season. Parkland (4-1 1-1) will host South Suburban (1-6) in a non-conference match at 12:00 on Saturday.

Women's Soccer picks up win!

Brittany Gentry scored on an assist from Amanda Hatcher and Camille Repass scored an unassisted goal to lead the Parkland Women's Soccer team to a 2-0 win over St. Charles CC on Monfay afternoon. The Cobras scored a goal in each half whole goal keeper Sandy Stundahl turned away 5 St. Charles shots on goal.

The win improves PC to (3-1 0-1) while St. Charles losses for the first time this season and falls to (4-1). Going into the game, the Lady Cougars had only allowed 1 goal in their first four games. The Cobras will get right back into action today when they host Springfield College starting at 5:15.

Women's Soccer falls to #1 Lewis and Clark

The #1 ranked Lewis and Clark Women's Soccer team proved to much on Wednesday afternoon as the Trail Blazers blanked the Cobras 3-0 in Godfrey. PC trailed just 1-0 at the break as Kaylie Neutzling scored the only goal of the first half. The Cobras had several chances to score in the second half but could not connect while L&C added goals by Katya Hessel and Brigdget Belli. The loss drops PC to (2-1 0-1) while Lewis and Clark is (4-1 2-0). PC is off until Sept. 14 when they travel to Missouri to play St. Charles CC. Their next home game is the following day when they host Springfield College.

Women improve to 2-0, ready to take on #1 Lewis and Clark

Jenny Musik and Amanda Hatcher scored first half goals and goalkeeper Sandy Stundahl made 8 saves as the Parkland Women's Soccer team upended St. Louis-Meramec 2-1 to pick up their second win of the season.

Musik scored on an assist from Lauren DeBuysere to give the Cobras a 1-0 lead and Tiffany Blanchette fed Hatcher for the second PC goal as the Cobras built a 2-0 lead. Kelli Courtois scored an unassisted goal for the Magic late in the first half but Parkland held on as neither team could muster a goal in the second half.

Today, the Cobras travel south to play #1 ranked and defending NJCAA National Champions Lewis and Clark in a M-WAC showdown.

Cobras dominate in Alford debut

Brittany Gentry scored a school record four goals, two in each half, to lead the Parkland Women's Soccer team to a 9-0 pounding of the Indiana Tech University JV in the debut game of Cobra head coach Josh Alford.

In addition to Gentry's outburst, the Cobras received two goals and an assist from Jenny Musick, a goal and an assist from Alexis Sokol, and three assists from Amanda Hatcher. Tara Rossdeutcher added the Cobras only other score.

Parkland out shot the visitors 15-3 as goalkeeper Sandy Stundahl turned away three shots to preserve the shutout. Next up for the Cobras (1-0) will be a Saturday afternoon 3:00 home contest against St. Louis Meramec.

 

Alford era ready to begin for Parkland Women's Soccer

Former Parkland College star Josh Alford (2002-2004) is ready to get the season started as he begins his inaugural season as the Cobras Women's Soccer Coach. After a successful stint as the Boy's Coach at Champaign Central, Alford inherits a nice blend of 9 freshman and 8 sophomores from a team that finished (8-5-3) last season.

Former local standouts, Sophia Ryan (Urbana), Emily Lagos (Mahomet-Seymour), Brittani Gentry (Danville), Amanda Hatcher (Georgetown-Ridgefarm), Sandy Stundahl (Centennial), Sarah Moe (Central), and Ann Ballhazhi form a strong nucleus. Several other former Central Illinois high school stars, Jenny Musick (Mt. Zion), Alexis Sokol (Bloomington Central Catholic), and Brittany Moore (Decatur Eisenhower) will also be counted on this season.

The schedule starts off tough as the Cobras open on Wednesday September 2 with a 4:00 game against the Indiana Tech University JV followed up by another home game at 3:00 Saturday vs perennial power St. Louis Meramec and a trip on September 9th to defending National Champions Lewis and Clark. The Cobras will also host their traditional M-WAC/Region 24 foes (Springfield, Kaskaskia, and SWIC) as well as non-conference matches vs So. Suburban, Joliet, and Forest Park.
