Sophomore Sam Wells wrapped up his best tournament as a collegian firing a two-day total of 145 to win the Car-X Parkland Golf Invitational by six strokes over teammate Bryan Ideus. Weather conditions could not have been more different for the two rounds as Wells shot a 72 on Sunday on a rain soaked course while his 73 today was shot in sunny but cool and windy conditions. Ideus also was the mark of consistency as he moved up the leader board with a (151 76-75). Corbin Sebens was the only other PC player in the 70's as he shot a 76 today.
Rend Lake easily won the team title with three players all shooting 154. Rock Valley edged out the Cobras by two shots for second place. The tournament was the final tune-up for the Cobras as they will travel south to Lock Haven CC on Sunday and Monday for the 54 hole Region 24 Tournament. The top two teams and the next five best individuals will advance to the NJCAA Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona.
